I'm sure that if your house is anything like ours, the weekday afternoons are more than hectic. Everyday there's some sort of lesson or I'm teaching a dance class or two, or both. There's homework, and chores and violin to practice. Let's not even get into two babies waking from naps, and dinner to prepare. These afternoons don't often lend themselves to "just for fun" activities.
But Friday.... Oh how I love Friday! There are no lessons to get to, no dance class to teach and while homework and violin practice and babies and dinner are still there, the pressure is not. The weekend has begun and the bedtimes are a little more flexible. Plus, I'm usually looking forward to a hot date with my hubby and therefore in a better mood!
So, I try to take full advantage of this glorious day! I try to plan a little unexpected and relaxed fun with my kiddos. Whether it be a little trip to the playground or a board game or a craft. Just something we can enjoy together. I try not to get too structured- you know how I love me a good detailed plan- and just relax. So, last week we enjoyed a little T-party, no not a Tea party, a T-party. You know, as in T-Rex.
The menu: extremely large cookies and "blood" kool-aid. Nothing fancy or extremely complicated, but just a little something unexpected when the girls got home from school. The decor: some of Sam's toy dinos and some faux moss mixed with a few decor stones. Again, nothing fancy, just a little something to make it different. And the whole five minutes I spent planning and setting up, TOTALLY WORTH the happy giggles I got in return!
